At least 23 dead as tornado swarm hits Alabama

Rescue workers are searching for survivors after a spate of powerful tornadoes tore through parts of Alabama.

At least 23 people, including a number of children are known to have died in the storms which brought winds of up to 160 miles per hour and a level of destruction not seen in the area for more than two decades.
