Docklands Light Railway trains into central London have been halted while fire crews investigate reports of smoke in a tunnel.

Trains travelling to Bank station were suspended on Wednesday morning as officials responded to the fire alert.

London Fire Brigade said crews were investigating a strong smell of smoke in one of the tunnels outside the station.

A spokesman said firefighters were alerted shortly before 9am.

Transport for London said DLR services between Shadwell and Bank were suspended.

The rest of the station remained open.
