A man found stabbed to death in a car allegedly used by terrorists is the latest victim of the attacks in Spain, bringing the official death toll to 15.

Spanish officials announced the updated number of fatalities on Monday.

The latest victim is believed to be 34–year-old Spaniard Pau Perez who was found stabbed to death following Thursday’s atrocity.

Fourteen people were killed in the attack on Barcelona’s Las Ramblas promenade on Thursday, and one woman killed hours later in Cambrils.

Police are hunting Younes Abouyaaqoub, 22

Catalan interior minister Joaquim Forn gave the updated figure in a news conference and revealed the victim’s car is believed to have been used by one of the attackers to flee the scene.

Spanish authorities added that identification of all 15 victims killed in attacks has now been concluded.

Catalan justice minister Carles Mundo said the fatalities are eight males, including two minors, and seven women.

CCTV images emerged of the suspect at the centre of a Europe-wide manhunt minutes before he is believed to have stabbed the victim.

The images show a man, believed to be 22-year-old Moroccan Younes Abouyaaqoub, strolling away from the scene near Las Ramblas in the wake of the attack.

He is believed to have gone on to stab and kill Pau Perez before stealing his Ford Focus.

He then allegedly used the car to attempt to flee but was forced to ditch it after coming across a police road block.

On Monday Today St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary school in Lalor Park, Sydney, paid tribute to Julian Cadman, the seven-year-old British-Australian boy who was identified as one of the dead.

Greg Whitby, executive director of the Catholic education diocese of Parramatta, said Julian was “a delightful little boy — curious and energetic with a kind and generous heart”.
