This is the moment people run for their lives after a van ploughed into crowds in a terror attack in Barcelona.

Footage emerged of shoppers screaming and fleeing in horror from a supermarket amid the chaos around the busy shopping street Las Ramblas.

In another clip, pedestrians can been seen running as they are led away from the scene by police in the tourist hotspot.

Thirteen people are feared dead and 32 have been injured as a white van mounted the pavement, crashing into pedestrians on Thursday afternoon.

Police confirmed at least one person had been killed in the incident, which a spokesman said was being treated as a terror attack.

But Catalan media, quoting police sources, suggested the death toll stood at 13 following the rampage which happened just after 5pm local time (4pm GMT).

Officers also confirmed 32 people had been injured in the attack – 10 of those were said to have serious injuries.

Victims were left lying on the ground as police cordoned off the area and advised shops to close, local newspaper The El Pais reported.

Witnesses told how they could hear people screaming as they ran from the scene, with others saying they took cover in nearby shops.
