A 97-year-old veteran of the Second World War has taken part in a parachute descent into Arnhem to mark 75 years since the ill-fated ‘Operation Market Garden’.

Sandy Cortmann from Aberdeen was 22-years-old when he landed in the Dutch city, in a military campaign which eventually saw more that 1,500 Commonwealth soldiers killed.

The Prince of Wales was among a crowd of thousands who gathered to applaud Mr Cortmann on his commemorative jump.

Sky’s Ashley Blake reports.
