The boss of British Gas’ owner, Centrica, said “there is no excuse” after an investigation found the company sent debt collectors who broke into customers’ homes to install prepayment meters.
Chris O’Shea also said that customers do not deserve to be treated in such a way, that he would not “justify it” and that he is launching an internal investigation.
“I am really, really sorry,” he added, talking to Sky News’ Ian King.
