Guests have been evacuated from an iconic seafront hotel in Brighton amid fears of a bomb threat.

Sussex Police confirmed an anonymous call had been made to the Grand hotel, in Kings Road, on Sunday afternoon claiming that explosives had been planted in the building.

Guests were evacuated from the building and the nearby Brighton Centre which is hosting the Trade Union Congress annual conference this weekend.

A mass search of the premises is ongoing to establish the credibility of the threat, a police spokesman added.

Bomb disposal experts have also been called to the scene.
