Division One leaders Essex need a maximum of 37 points to clinch their first title since 1992, assuming second-placed Lancashire win their three remaining games with 24 points from each.

It is possible, however, for Essex to be crowned champions this week if they beat bottom club Warwickshire and Lancashire slip up against Somerset.

Warwickshire can only reach 143 points if they take maximum points from their last three matches. Should they lose against Essex, they will be relegated if Yorkshire and Middlesex win.

In Division Two, leaders Nottinghamshire have the week off, but they are just 22 points short of securing promotion back to the top flight for next summer.

Second-placed Worcestershire will join them if they take 37 points from their two remaining games, irrespective of the results of rivals Northants, Sussex and Kent, who all have a game in hand.
