Paul Collingwood had good news for Durham supporters after scoring his 25th first-class century for the county on day one against Derbyshire.

The former England all-rounder, who will resume on 127 not out, is still going strong like fellow 41-year-olds, Marcus Trescothick (Somerset) and Darren Stevens (Kent) and expects to play on for the club next summer.

“I haven’t signed anything yet, but I think it would be silly to give up the game when, well I’m not clinging on, put it that way,” he told BBC Newcastle.

“I’m still enjoying it, enjoying contributing, and I think it would be silly if I didn’t have another season.”
