So where were we before we were interrupted by the T20 Blast?
Essex have a commanding 41-point lead over Lancashire and Hampshire at the top of the Division One table, after winning six of their nine games.
There are still plenty of points at stake before the season ends on 28 September, and only two of their five remaining games are at home, but the men from Chelmsford are undoubtedly clear title favourites, even with Alastair Cook on Test duty until the middle of next month.
Somerset and Warwickshire need two or three wins to have a chance of avoiding the relegation trap door, while in Division Two, it looks like Nottinghamshire and one from four for the two promotion places.
Worcestershire are currently in second place, but Northants, Sussex and Kent all have a game in hand and determined to capitalise on any slip-up by Joe Leach’s side against Gloucestershire at New Road this week.
