A chippy popular with celebrities is wowing customers with a live DJ and the mouth-watering prospect of a deep-fried Creme Egg.

Although Edinburgh is packed with chip shops, one in particular is making a name for itself by offering a rare and unique experience to its patrons.

Awash with ultra-violet light, Cafe Piccante in Broughton Street gives punters the option of enjoying a boogie while waiting to order a late night portion of chips.

Twitter user @KneeS0cks took to Twitter to post footage of inside the chippy, alongside the comment: “Still baffled by the fact there was a DJ in the chippy last night.”

Other videos posted on the shop’s Facebook page show customers bopping along to the to music while people wait in line for their evening munch.

And its growing reputation means the chippy, which also offers a deep fried Creme Egg instead of a chocolate bar, has attracted a number of celebrities.

Dara Ó Briain, Russell Howard and Alan Car have all been pictured at the shop.

Many of Cafe Piccante’s fans have also taken to Twitter to post their admiration.

One person wrote: “Cafe Piccante is the best chippy in Edinburgh”, while another added: “Why go anywhere else?”
