Health-care serial killer Elizabeth Wettlaufer is facing a College of Nurses of Ontario disciplinary hearing in Toronto Tuesday, almost one month after she was sentenced to life in prison for killing eight patients and harming six others in London and Woodstock nursing homes.
The ex-nurse, who pleaded guilty to murdering eight elderly patients and attempting to kill others, resigned from the provincial regulatory body in Sept. 30, 2016.
The regulatory body alleges Wettlaufer verbally, physically or emotionally abused 14 patients and engaged in “disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional conduct” when she intentionally killed eight patients with insulin overdoses.
Wettlaufer is serving eight concurrent life sentences with no possibility of parole for 25 years.
The hearing’s purpose is likely to formally reprimand Wettlaufer over the incidents for which she’s already been criminally convicted.
