The Foreign Office has confirmed that nine British passengers were on an Ethiopian Airlines plane that crashed shortly after taking off from Addis Ababa.

The plane’s voice and data recorders have both been recovered and will be crucial in piecing together what happened in the flight’s final moments.

Its the second fatal accident involving the newest version of the Boeing 737 – the Max 8 – in six months, raising concerns about the safety of its design.
