Warning: some viewers may find the following accounts disturbing.

South Sudan is the world’s youngest nation, and has one of the highest numbers of child soldiers in the world.

Many of these children were ordered to commit atrocities during a brutal civil war, including rape and killing.

According to the UN, an estimated 19,000 children are still being held by militia groups. This is despite a peace deal having been signed in 2018.

Sky News’ special correspondent Alex Crawford and her team went to speak to some of the former child soldiers.
