Families living in four south London tower blocks found to be potentially unsafe say they are living in fear.

Hundreds of residents are facing evacuation from 224 homes at four blocks on Ledbury Estate in Peckham which failed safety tests in the wake of the Grenfell Tower tragedy.

Peterchurch, Bromyard, Skenfirth and Sarnsfield towers all had their gas supplies cut off on Thursday.

Izadora Kedziora, a mother, said: “It is affecting my health, I am scared every day to go back to that flat because we have now been told it is not safe.”

Southwark council said it “is not willing to take any risks” and is looking for temporary accommodation for tenants.

But residents fear a shortage of vacant homes could mean they are forced to stay in hotels and bed and breakfasts.
