Fire alarm closes London Paddington station

A fire alarm has closed London Paddington and “major disruption” is expected to last all evening.

National Rail confirmed the station was evacuated and safety checks are being undertaken.

Trains on all routes between London Paddington and Reading may be cancelled, delayed up to 60 minutes or revised as a result.

Emergency services, including the British Transport Police, are on site.

Great Western Railway customers are advised to use Chiltern Railways, CrossCountry, South West Trains and London Underground.

Heathrow Connect and Heathrow Express rail services are also suspended.
