Helsinki crash: One dead after car ploughs into crowd in Finland

One person has died and several have been injured after a man drove a vehicle into a crowd in the Finnish capital Helsinki, police say.

The incident happened at about 6pm local time, at a junction in the centre of the city.

A large swathe of the area has been cordoned off by police as a large number of emergency services vehicles descended on the scene.

The driver, a man in his 50s who appeared to be intoxicated, has been arrested, according to police.

At least four people have reportedly been taken to hospital, with a number of others treated at the scene for minor injuries.
