Almost half of the plastic used in Ethiopia is not being discarded properly, with dumped plastic bags ending up in the stomachs of cows.

The material is filling the country’s landscapes, raising concerns about it being disseminated through the soil and into the water table.

Alex Crawford reports on the problem of plastics pollution along the River Nile, which serves 300 million people and runs through 11 countries in Africa.
