A family got the fright of their lives when a 6kg bag of pork landed on the roof of their Florida home.

Travis Adair told how they woke to the “big bang” at 4am on Saturday.

“It was like thunder, and it awakened me out of a sleep,” he told Local 10 News.

“We got up, found two packages of sausage on our side yard, and then we were like, ‘OK, well, we got to go on the roof and check and see if we find more of this stuff’,” said Mr Adair’s son, Austin.

There were three more packages of pork on the roof of the house in Deerfield Beach.

“It had to fall from the sky,” Mr Adair said. “It was too heavy to throw on the roof.” The home is near three airports, so he thinks it fell from a plane.

The package labelling shows the package originally belonged to pig owner Jim Williams – who lives 170 miles away in Myakka City.

The Adairs appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to tell the story of the mysterious incident.
