Reality TV star Jeremy McConnell threatened to throw acid in on-off ex-girlfriend Stephanie Davis’s face, a court heard.

Former Hollyoaks actress Miss Davis made the claim while giving evidence at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court as the Irish model went on trial for assaulting her at her home in Rainhill, Merseyside, on March 10.

Mr McConnell was found guilty of assault on Monday.

Asked why she retracted her statement about the incident in May, Miss Davis said: “That was Jeremy getting me to retract my statement, he also threatened to throw acid in my face.”

She claimed she had also been a victim of revenge porn by McConnell.

She told the court: “I’ve been scared of Jeremy and that’s the God’s honest truth.”

The couple, who began a relationship after appearing together on Celebrity Big Brother, argued during the court hearing, with Miss Davis branding her former partner a “blatant liar”.

District Judge Wendy Lloyd ordered a break in proceedings when McConnell began laughing in the dock after Miss Davis broke down in tears.

The court heard they had been out for Miss Davis’s birthday dinner on March 9 but when they returned home McConnell left to go out again to the pub.

Miss Davis said when he got back to the house at about midnight he was “out of it” and had been taking cocaine.

She said: “He was calling me a s**g. He said that I was fat, he said that no one was going to want to touch me again.”

The court was shown photos of a bruise she said was caused by McConnell biting her arm, as well as extensive bruises to her legs and body.

Miss Davis said McConnell left the house but later returned and began kicking the doors in an attempt to get in.

Miss Davis said she feared for the life of herself and her child

She said: “I heard him go over the gate, it was literally like a horror film. I just thought, ‘this is it, he’s going to kill me’.”

She said she let him in after fearing he would smash the glass patio doors and he followed her upstairs, where she was in the bedroom holding their eight-week-old son Caben-Albi.

She told the court he threw her on to the bed: “Every time I got up he got me by the face and threw me down forcefully.

“All I was thinking is how do I get Caben away. He could have killed him.”

She said McConnell punched her on the side of the head and pushed her against the wall twice as she held their son.

He had accused her of having affairs with her pregnant friend and with a fireman who lived nearby.

Miss Davis said McConnell, who she described as “psychotic”, left the house but returned again, this time snapping handles off the patio doors of the house to get in.

She told the court the 27-year-old was apologetic about his earlier behaviour and threatened to smash a bottle of wine over his own head.

Her mother then arrived, having been called by a friend of Miss Davis.

Miss Davis said: “He went to smash the bottle of wine over his head and that was just when my mum knocked at the door and it was the biggest relief of my life because I genuinely thought that was it.”

Miss Davis denied that when she reported the incident to police, three days afterwards, she was doing so to prevent McConnell appearing on TV show Ex On The Beach.

McConnell told the court he was defending himself against Miss Davis, who attacked him after learning he had taken cocaine.

He claimed injuries shown in photos were “self-inflicted”.

James Morris, defending, said: “She is aggrieved that he actually ended their relationship some six weeks ago.”

McConnell, of Swords, Dublin, pleaded guilty to criminal damage of Miss Davis’s property at an earlier hearing.

Judge Lloyd adjourned sentencing until Friday and warned McConnell custody was a possibility.

McConnell was bailed on the condition he does not contact Miss Davis, her mother or her aunt.
