A north Wales newspaper has been praised for its comical reporting following the news that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting a third child.

Breaking the exciting news of Kate’s pregnancy, the Daily Post decided to go with a very local take on the announcement.

It chose to omit the couple’s names and titles, with the headline reading: “Former Anglesey helicopter pilot expecting third child.”

Prince William and Kate shared a home on the island when he was a Search and Rescue pilot at RAF Valley in the early years of the couple’s marriage.

The headline has been widely shared across social media.

Angharad Williams said: “Great headline for the #royalbaby story: Former Anglesey helicopter pilot expecting third child.”

James Long wrote “Love it”, while Tara John added: “Winner of best royal baby headline goes to…”

However not everyone saw the funny side.

Another Twitter user said: “Please adjust your headline

“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge, show some respect.”

A statement making the announcement was released by Kensington Palace earlier today after Kate was forced to cancel a public appearance.

It read: “Their royal highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child.

“The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.

“As with her previous two pregnancies, the Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum.”
