Two people were injured after a train hit the buffers at London’s King’s Cross station.

Staff in high-vis overalls were spotted gathered around the front of the train, the 5:13am service from Royston, and a cordon was in place.

Network Rail said there was a “slow speed buffer collision” at around 6:20am and two people suffered minor injuries.

There is no expected service disruption as the crash was “very minor” the spokeswoman said.

It comes amid a morning of chaos for commuters across the capital, with a derailed train outside London Waterloo causing severe delays throughout Tuesday.

A South West Train service came off the tracks at about 5.40am on Tuesday morning, with three people treated at the scene.

In 2015, four people were taken to hospital when a train smashed into the buffers at King’s Cross.
