Three people have died after a passenger train derailed near Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire and caught fire. Six others were taken to hospital. The train’s driver and the conductor along with a passenger were killed in the accident.

The train was on its way from Aberdeen to Glasgow when it left the line. One carriage slid down an embankment. It’s thought the train may have hit a landslip following bad weather overnight. There were only 12 on board when the accident happened.

Sophie Raworth presents BBC News at Ten reporting from Scotland correspondent Lorna Gordon in Aberdeenshire and transport correspondent Tom Burridge.
