Leeds confirmed their place in the Super League play-off semi-finals by beating Challenge Cup winners Hull FC.

The Rhinos’ success means they need only two points from their final three games to secure a home semi-final.

Rob Burrow, Brad Singleton, Liam Sutcliffe and Mitch Garbutt went over for Leeds in the first half, replied to by Steve Michaels and Scott Taylor.

Danny Washbrook and Josh Bowden led Hull’s fightback, but Adam Cuthbertson and Matt Parcell crossed for Leeds.

The hosts scored four tries in the first half and it was all started by Burrow – who was only in the line-up after Joel Moon pulled out in the warm-up with a groin injury.

The hooker touched down a loose ball, although a no-try call on the field was overturned by the video referee.

Hull, who beat Wigan 18-14 at Wembley on Saturday, are still not assured a place in play-offs, with even eighth-placed Huddersfield still harbouring hopes of a place in the semi-finals.

The visitors produced a spirited second-half comeback as Washbrook crossed on the right-hand side and Marc Sneyd cleverly set Bowden to power through the middle, but Parcell crossed in the final minute to seal the home side’s victory.

Leeds: Walker; Briscoe, Watkins, Sutcliffe, Hall; Moon, McGuire; Cuthbertson, Parcell, Singleton, Ward, Jones-Buchanan, Ablett.

Replacements: Mullally, Garbutt, Burrow, Delaney.

Hull: Shaul; Michaels, Fonua, Tuimavave, Talanoa; Kelly, Sneyd; Taylor, Houghton, Bowden, Turgut, Manu, Ellis.

Replacements: Thompson, Fash, Connor, Washbrook.

Referee: James Child
