Bath held on for their first win at Welford Road since 2003 as Leicester Tigers began the Premiership season with a deserved home defeat.

Fit-again Manu Tuilagi had put Tigers 8-0 up early on but Bath hit back with three tries before half-time.

The hosts pressed in the final quarter of the game with two tries from debutant winger Johnny May.

Bath played with just 13 men for much of the latter stages, with three yellow cards shown in all, but they survived.
