Roads terrorized

The latest data from the OPP identifies an increase on Ontario roads of speeding, racing, aggressive and impaired drivers, all of which are terrorizing the rest of us. I have always tried to be a defensive driver, but now I think twice as to whether I should risk my life by proceeding into no man’s land just to get my weekly groceries.

Some countries shoot terrorists on sight, and demolish their family homes, while other countries send their armies half way around the world to seek and destroy terrorism. In Canada, when comparing the loss of life from behind the wheel, and that of other forms of terrorism, it is now obvious that vehicular manslaughter has become the preferred and socially acceptable form of terrorizing society.

Racing entries missed

It is disappointing that the largest newspaper in our area does not publish the entries for today’s $500,000 Prince of Wales Stakes at Fort Erie, — the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown — or a mere mention of it. I know Premier Kathryn Wynn doesn’t care about the horse racing industry; however, there are still many Canadians who support it. It is one of the biggest races in Canada.

Taxes well spent on core

I was so happy to see that my hard earned tax dollars are going toward safety in the core. The police can’t seem to find people that shoot up a parking lot or stab someone, but can chase down an 88-year-old with a walker and a 60-year-old for a minor pot offense. I for one feel so much safer and will now frequent the core more in the weeks to come. Great job.

Comparisons biased

The article Bailey topped area MPPs in office expenses last year (July 24) by Charlie Pinkerton was concise, informative.

However, an apples-to-apples comparison would need to be based on the population served.
