Police have charged a 30-year-old London man after a woman was stabbed while trying to break up a fight outside a thrift store near the core.

Emergency workers called to Horton and Wellington streets Tuesday at 2 p.m. found a woman with a stab wound to her neck.

She was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but her condition was upgraded to stable, police said Wednesday.

A witness recounted seeing two men and a woman arguing outside Goodwill before the men started fighting.

The woman was stabbed while trying to separate the two men, the witness said.

Police arrested two men nearby, one of whom was later released without charges.

Hashim Peters is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Investigators are asking any potential witnesses to contact police.
