A man faces drug and arson charges following a fire at an east London house that injured one person.

Emergency crews were called to a fire at a home at the intersection of Strand and Oxford streets on Sunday, just before 6 p.m.

A man was taken to hospital with minor burns and later released, police said. Damage was estimated at $60,000.

Following the long-weekend blaze, the police guns and drugs squad raided the home, seizing 250 grams of marijuana shake (the remnants of a pot plant), one gram of cannabis resin and 24 butane canisters.

A London man, 51, is charged with multiple offences including arson by negligence and drug production.

Butane, a highly flammable gas, is used to create shatter, a potent marijuana extract.

Several house fires in the London region have been linked to the manufacturing of shatter in recent years.
