A woman was still fighting for her life Thursday, three days after being assaulted at an east-end home, London police say.
Officers called to 1070 Frances St. Monday night found a woman with life-threatening injuries. The woman, whose name hasn’t been made public, remains in hospital in critical condition.
London police won’t publicly say whether a weapon was involved in Monday’s attack at the home, located near the intersection of Dundas Street and Highbury Avenue.
“It’s still an active and ongoing investigation,” London police Const. Sandasha Bough said.
Dennis George, 46, of London is charged with attempted murder.
George has a long criminal past, including a 2008 manslaughter conviction: While serving a sentence at the Joyceville Institution in Kingston for robberies, George stabbed fellow inmate LeRoy Paupst to death on New Year’s Eve 2005.
Paupst, 47, was serving a five-year sentence for sex crimes against women and girls in St. Thomas between 1986 and 1998.
George confessed to the killing two months later at the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre, where he was being held on a harassment charge after his release from the Kingston prison. He was given a six-year sentence for the jailhouse killing.
Neighbours say George was a frequent visitor to 1070 Frances St.
