Man, 25, fighting for life after shooting in North Woolwich

A man is fighting for his life in hospital after a being shot in east London.

Police and paramedics were scrambled to the scene after gunshots were heard in Woodman Street, North Woolwich, on Monday night.

A 25-year-old man was rushed to hospital after suffering facial injuries and a gunshot wound to the torso in the attack at about 10.20pm.

Police believe the victim was shot by a suspect in a vehicle which then sped off, Scotland Yard has said.

The man remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital. No arrests have been made.

The shooting was the second in the capital in the space of 24 hours after a man was shot in Canning Town shortly after midnight on Monday.
