An eight-year-old mixed race boy was reportedly nearly “hanged” by a group of teenagers hurling abuse at him in New Hampshire.

The family of the child claim the attackers taunted the boy with racial slurs before pushing him off a picnic table with a rope around his neck – leaving him with serious burns.

The alleged victim’s grandmother said the boy was rushed to hospital after the incident – which happened on August 28 in Claremont – and treated for injuries to his neck.

Claremont Police Chief Mark Chase has confirmed his team is investigating a “serious incident” involving children but would not provide further details.

But the boy’s uncle shared images of his neck injuries on social media and wrote: “My nephew was hung from a tree by a 14yr old who claims ‘it was an accident’.

“I don’t care what kind of excuse this teenager has but you DO NOT play with somebody’s life.”

In response to the alleged incident, Republican Governor Chris Sununu tweeted that “hatred and bigotry will not be tolerated in NH and congresswoman Annie Kuster said she was “outraged and sickened by the chilling images “.
