A London-born model broke down in tears as she relived the terror of her alleged kidnapping in a live TV interview today.

Chloe Ayling was allegedly snatched by a group of masked men who call themselves Black Death while she was in Milan last month and held captive for six days.

She was eventually handed over to the British Consulate in the Italian city, with her captors having tried to auction her online as a sex slave.

The 20-year-old model, from Coulsden, appeared on ITV’s This Morning and appeared to fight back tears as she spoke of her “hurt” over accusations she made the story up.

Ms Ayling said on This Morning: “It is really hurtful to see people doubt my story.

“Like when I went shoe shopping apparently, which was to the camping shop to get shoes for the consulate, people were saying why didn’t I run?

“It’s easy for them to say that but when you’re in my situation it’s not that easy. I was with an assassin that’s always armed, I’d been shown knives, so I couldn’t just try and put my life in the hands of a random Italian woman.

“If I couldn’t communicate with her, or she didn’t care, then I’d risk my life – and it’s not just about him.”

The model appeared to break down in tears as she revealed she was “hoping for a painless death” when she was first captured.

She is believed to have been drugged and transported in a bag to an isolated village near Turin.

But some viewers were not convinced by Ms Ayling’s emotional retelling of her ordeal, with one Twitter user accusing her of “crying with no tears”.

Marie posted on Twitter: “Chloe Ayling story doesn’t add up, if she is that traumatized by her so-called kidnapping ordeal why is she on national TV?”

Hope posted: “Not sure if she’s lying or telling the truth. Her little cry looked fake though.”

But many people jumped to the defence of Ms Ayling after watching seeing the model’s emotional testimony.

One Twitter user, known only as V Simps, said: “This is so sad… she’s young, beautiful and has been through something awful, it’s disgusting she’s being called a liar.”
