A grateful mother decided to name her newborn baby son after the London paramedic that helped to deliver him in a touching tribute.

Maya Frank, from Hanwell, gave birth to her baby son in an ambulance as she was driven to Northwick Park Hospital with the blue lights on.

The 23-year-old and her partner Bradley Marcham, 26, named their son Callum-Blue after London Ambulance Service paramedic Callum Anderson, who helped to deliver the baby.

Callum-Blue was nine days overdue when he was born on July 2 and weighed 7lbs and 6oz.

Ms Frank was at home in Hanwell when she started to get regular contractions and called the hospital. Staff told her to come in.

She had a bath but by the time she got out, the contractions were too painful for her to get in a taxi and so she called an ambulance.

Paramedic Mr Anderson arrived at the house with his colleague Dina, who then drove the ambulance to the hospital while he was in the back with Ms Frank and her partner, who already had a two-year-old son named Casper-Lee.

It was the first time the paramedic had delivered a baby.

Ms Frank said: “When I was about ten minutes from the hospital I said I needed to push, Callum saw the head and called to Dina to come and help.

“She pulled over and then after about five pushes, the baby was born.”

They continued their journey to the hospital and once Ms Frank had been found a bed, the paramedics visited the new arrival.

Ms Frank added: “We only found out Callum’s name then and we thought it was perfect. We didn’t have a name but we wanted one beginning with C to go with his brother’s name. It suits him 100 per cent.

“Callum the paramedic was awesome. We didn’t know it was the first time he had delivered a baby but when he came to visit us he was clearly touched by the whole experience.”
