The mother of a British model allegedly kidnapped in Italy to be sold as a sex slave today insisted her daughter is telling the truth.

Chloe Ayling, 20, from Coulsdon, south London told Italian police she was abducted, drugged and transported in a bag from Milan to Turin where she was held for six days while her captors tried to sell her on the Dark Web to Middle Eastern buyers.

The model’s mother, Beata, today told the Standard her daughter is still recovering from the “terrifying ordeal” and claims that she was complicit in a fake kidnapping plot are “all lies”.

Mrs Ayling said: “People are making up lies about my daughter. She is recovering now after what has happened. It has been terrible for her.

“It will all come out when she is ready to speak out against these lies.

“She has had a terrible few weeks. As her mother, I was very worried and just want her to recover so she can speak out against the lies.”

Carla Bellucci, a model agent who used to represent Ms Ayling, said: “As a friend I want to believe her. I was supposed to see her yesterday, but she’s signed with a new celebrity agency and they’ve told her not to talk to me.

“I’ve heard they’re trying to get a £20,000 photoshoot deal. Chloe’s always been looking for fame. I just hope she hasn’t been mislead by someone over this as she’s so trusting.”

Ms Bellucci, who runs Twenty One Model Management, added: “Chloe asked me to be godmother to her son and I hope for his sake she can leave this all behind.”

Ms Ayling’s lawyer Francesco Pesce said yesterday she was too terrified to try to get away from her captor when he took her shoe shopping and to buy groceries.

Ms Ayling told police she met Herba, 30, a Polish national who lives in Britain, when he booked her for a photoshoot in Paris in April.

Herba, who has been described as a “fantasist” by Italian police, reportedly told investigators he was diagnosed with leukaemia and was trying to raise money for treatment so agreed to work for a gang of Romanians based in Birmingham.
