Murder probe launched after man repeatedly stabbed outside shops in south London dies

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man who was repeatedly stabbed outside a parade of shops in south London.

Emergency services raced to the scene after a man was attacked and knifed in Eltham on Friday night.

Scotland Yard said police and paramedics were called to reports of a stabbing in Well Hall Parade shortly before 8pm.

The 49-year-old was rushed to hospital in a critical condition where he died from his injuries on Monday.

A 38-year-old man was Tasered by officers following the attack.

He was arrested on suspicion of GBH on Friday and re-arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday.

Detectives are urging a woman who claimed to have been threatened by the suspect to come forward. 

Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Piscopo said: “When officers arrived at the scene in Well Hall Parade, witnesses told how a woman said to them that she had been threatened by the suspect. 

“This woman is described as black, tall, aged approximately 30 and was wearing a long, floral patterned cardigan.

“We need to trace this woman as she may have vital evidence that could assist this investigation.”
