Following a series of leaks, it has emerged that Apple is launching a new phone on Tuesday to mark ten years since the first iPhone went on sale.
As well as revealing the updated features on the iPhone 8 and 8Plus, Apple is set introduce the ‘iPhone X’.
Code was leaked online which has been deciphered by game developers and tech experts, who have compiled all the information they can about this new model.
So here is what we know so far about the highly-anticipated iPhone X:
What will it look like?
Almost the entire front of the 5.8 inch phone will be made up of a high definition edge-to-edge screen, with only a small amount of space left for the front camera.
As a result, there will be no home button and, instead, the phone will be unlocked by an on-screen touch button.
The side power button is also expected to be a lot larger than the existing iPhone.
According to the leaks, iPhone X will support wireless charging – like the Apple Watch – but there is nothing to suggest it won’t also have a charging port.
There are also suggestions that Apple is ditching the existing aluminium casing in favour of a glass back to the phone.
What new features will it have?
As well as being the fastest and most powerful device yet (due to high performing processors used in the phone) X will have a number of new features.
According to the coded information, the new phone will use face ID technology – which will act as an alternative to the Touch ID system fingerprint system.
The facial recognition will also be used to authorise online purchases as well as to unlock handsets.
The 3D technology that will enable the facial recognition will support the new Animoji messenger feature.
This will create animated emojis that mirror the user’s facial expressions and use their voice.
The phone will have the highest quality camera yet, which will be able to record 4K video at 60 frames per second.
To put this into perspective, the cameras on the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus can capture 4k video at 30 frames a second.
It is believed that the camera will also have unique lighting settings in the Portrait Lighting feature, such as Contour Light, Natural Light, Stage Light, Stage Light Mono, and Studio Light.
When is it being launched?
On Tuesday, along with the other iPhone models and the new Apple Watch.
It will be unveiled at Apple’s new Steve Jobs Theatre at its Cupertino campus.
The phone is likely to hit shops in October.
How much will it cost?
Yes it will be the fastest performing phone, but it is also the most expensive.
The iPhone X is believed to cost around $1000 – or £760 – upfront.
