The Play: Five Alarm, presented by Port Stanley Festival Theatre, directed by Simon Joynes.

The Show: Ava Rose has lost the Wayne Rose Memorial Chili Cook-off for 16 years — but vows this time is going to be different. First, she needs to piece together her father’s missing Five Alarm Chili recipe. Five Alarm is a world premiere, and reflects playwright Kristen Da Silva’s small-town roots (she’s from Nobleton). She has a background in improv comedy and is a founding member of Vanier Improv company and sketch groups Rocket-9 and Gazebo Pals.

The Quote: “With an iron will, an assistant who knows nothing, and a five-time champion as her bitter rival, Ava Rose strives for triumph in this zany comedy as sweet as it is spicy. Who knew that chili could be this much fun?”

— Simon Joynes, director
