Transplanted German artist Linda Braun, whose studio is situated alongside the Lake Huron shore, has her second show at Art With Panache until Aug. 12.

Called Imagination Has No Boundaries, the exhibition represents her latest phase, working in the area of pure expressionism.

“Four years ago, when she visited London, she presented a stunning collection of her work and I am excited to have her back with a new series of pure expressionism paintings,” gallery owner Audrey Cooper said in a statement.

The images reflect Braun’s roots in the highly expressive Berlin art scene.

While living in the German city, she witnessed a crucial moment in world history: the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the ensuing “reboot” of German society, shifting from East Germany’s communism to a Western style of life. She calls these changes “the driving forces behind her desire to find self-expression through painting.”

“I have always been an observer by nature, and began my career as a street painter in Berlin working along the Wall,” Braun said. That’s where she found faces in the crowds to inspire her primarily figurative abstract art.

Once she came to Canada, her perspective changed.

“I began seeing the night sky, the water, nature and the connection we as humans have to the universe,” Braun said. The result is that she began painting in a “more focused, expressionist way.”

Braun’s recent works tie together the connection between our inner consciousness and the outer universe.

According to Braun, an artist is “just a conduit for the Earth’s vibrational energy to pass through.”

“I realize that the ability to create is a gift from the universe,” she said.
