Two people are charged after a newborn baby sustained “significant injuries,” police say. The baby is hospitalized in stable condition.

Thursday, police raided at a home in St. Thomas’s south end, seizing items relating to a police investigation that started earlier this month. A baby was found there, police said.

The father and mother of a seven-week-old baby – age 24 and 21, respectively – are charged with one count of aggravated assault, two counts of assault causing bodily harm and one count of failing to provide the necessities of life.

Both were held in custody pending a bail hearing on July 13.
