A nightclub has been shut down for three months after a teenager was stabbed to death outside.

Police found 19-year-old Daniel Namanga dying from knife wounds after a disturbance outside Afrikiko bar, restaurant and nightclub in Old Kent Road, Peckham, last month.

Officers said the venue “made no call to police”.

On Wednesday, Southwark council’s licensing committee told the venue to close for three months. When it re-opens reduced hours will be imposed.

The licence review followed police concerns and complaints from residents about fights and rowdiness.

Afrikiko bosses said they “regret the incident” and blamed a “crowd outside” over which bouncers had no control.

Witnesses said Mr Namanga was attacked at about 2am on August 8. He died in the club’s doorway 50 minutes later.

A 21-year-old man from Croydon will appear at the Old Bailey on October 31 charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon.
