Police will be taking no further action against a man arrested over the “jogger rage” attack on Putney Bridge, Scotland Yard said today.

Eric Bellquist has been eliminated from police enquiries after being detained by detectives on suspicion of grievous bodily harm earlier this week.

Mr Bellquist, a partner at a Mayfair private equity firm that owns Byron, had denied he was the jogger captured on video pushing a woman in front of a bus and said he was in the United States at the time.

His lawyers, Duncan Lewis Solicitors, said: “Our client has been wrongly implicated in this matter; he categorically denies being the individual concerned and has irrefutable proof that he was in the United States at the time of the incident. Consequently we expect a swift resolution to this wholly untrue allegation.”

Police hunt jogger after woman pushed into path of oncoming bus

Today a Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “A man arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after a jogger pushed a woman into the path of an oncoming bus in Putney has been released with no further action.

“The 41-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, 10 August before being released under investigation. Following enquiries, he has now been eliminated from the investigation.”

Meanwhile officers have renewed efforts to identify the man seen in the footage.

It shows a 33-year-old woman, who lives in Putney, walking to work at 7.40am on May 5 when a jogger appears to angle his run towards her.

He then collides with her and she falls into oncoming traffic. The bus misses her by inches before stopping, as the jogger runs off.

The police said she suffered bruising and back pain and was left “distressed”.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
