A gun-wielding thug threatened a man in a packed nightclub in south London, police say.

The incident happened inside Brixton Sports and Social Club, known locally as the Domino Club, in the early hours of Saturday.

At about 3.55am a man in his 30s was approached by the suspect who produced a silver handgun.

He threatened the victim with the gun by pushing the barrel against his stomach before fleeing the scene before police arrived.

Police said the gun was not fired and no one was injured.

The suspect is described as a black man, aged about 20 years old, 6ft 1ins tall of slim build with pointed features. He spoke with an English accent.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a dark grey hooded top, dark trousers and was carrying a small shoulder bag.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Dominic Landragin, from Lambeth CID, said: “We know that there were a lot of people at the Domino Club at the time in question.

“Someone knows this suspect and I would urge anyone who has information on his identity or his whereabouts to call police without delay.

“Even if you make the call anonymously through Crimestoppers, your call could help remove a dangerous criminal and a potentially lethal firearm from your area.”

Anyone who can assist the investigation is asked to call Lambeth CID by dialling 101 or via Twitter @MetCC.
