Two people are dead and two others are injured after a fatal three-vehicle crash on Kent Bridge Road at the intersection of River Line on Tuesday afternoon.

Chatham-Kent Police Service Sgt. Jason Chickowski said the two people killed as a result of the collision were in the same vehicle.

Police at the scene said there were a series of collisions between the vehicles, but there is no word on what started the chain-reaction crash that occurred just before 3 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.

The Daily News was able to determine two of the vehicles involved were a minivan and a sport utility vehicle. A large debris field could also be seen at the crash scene.

Kent Bridge Road is closed between Longwoods Road and Fairview Line and is expect to remain closed for several hours.
