Seven Sisters crash: Pensioner dies after hit-and-run collision in north London

An elderly man has died after being knocked down by a car in a hit-and-run crash in Tottenham.

Police said they were called in the early hours of Saturday morning to a collision near Seven Sisters London Underground station.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident, Scotland Yard said.

A spokeswoman said: “Police were called to High Road, N17 junction with Seven Sisters at 1.35am on Saturday, 12 August to reports of a road traffic collision.

“Police and London Ambulance Service attended. 

“A pedestrian, a man in his 70s was found unresponsive following a collision with a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.”

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of an accident and causing death by dangerous driving, she added.

Another man is also being questioned in connection with the investigation.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police’s serious collision investigation unit are probing the circumstances of the incident.
