Shocking moment police officer rams thief off Boris bike with van door seconds after he raided a car

This is the shocking moment a police officer knocks a thief off his Boris bike using his van’s door in an affluent west London street.

Jake Nedd, 31, had raided a black Range Rover parked in a residential street before fleeing the scene on the pay as you go bicycle.

The brazen thief begins pedalling away after seeing the van as it tore down the street towards him after the shameless daylight theft in Fulham.

After catching up with Nedd, the officer swings open the passenger-side door and knocks him to the ground before arresting him.

In dramatic CCTV footage, the thug can be seen crashing to the floor head first over the handlebars of the Santander Cycle in Dawes Road.

The driver slams the breaks on the vehicle as the thief tumbles off his bike into its path, and the officers quickly detains him on June 4.

Police were scrambled to the scene after Nedd was seen on CCTV stealing clothing from the unlocked Range Rover shortly after 8.30am.

Nedd, of no fixed address, was jailed for 28 weeks after appearing before Westminster Magistrates’ Court the following day.

He admitted theft from a motor vehicle, going equipped for theft and taking a vehicle without consent.

Dave Hinton, Met Police crime prevention design adviser, said: “In most cases car crime is committed by opportunists who often take less than a minute to get into a vehicle.

“Please ensure you leave no valuables on display and always lock your car and close the windows, even if only away from the vehicle for a ‘moment’.”
