Shocking moment thug hurls woman, 52, to ground during violent street robbery in south east London

This is the shocking moment a thug dragged a 52-year-old woman to the ground in a bid to grab her gold necklace during a violent south east London street robbery.

CCTV footage released by police shows the woman being approached on a residential street by a man wearing a crash helmet as two other men loiter on mopeds nearby.

The man grabs a gold necklace from around her neck and tries to yank it off, but when the woman resists he hurls her to the ground.

As she lies on the ground the thief removes the £600 necklace, before jumping on one of the mopeds and driving off as the pillion passenger.

The frightening incident happened outside the Hindu temple on Clarenden Rise in Lewisham at around4.40pm on Tuesday, June 20.

Police said one suspect is described as wearing a black crash helmet, white shirt, a dark blue jacket with grey trousers and black shoes.

Another was wearing a black crash helmet, blue shoes and a grey tracksuit with white stripes.

This man is also being sought by police after the incident

Detective Constable Alexander Hamilton, from Lewisham CID, said: “We are urgently seeking any information regarding this nasty crime, which has left the victim shaken from her ordeal.

“Please come forward if you know anything, witnessed anything, or you know who the men in the CCTV images are.”
