Disabled Silent Witness actress Liz Carr has spoken out after being stabbed in the head by an attacker “wielding two pairs of scissors” in London.

Ms Carr, who plays scientist Clarissa Mullery in the popular TV drama, was hospitalised after being slashed in the horrific ordeal near Euston station.

Speaking for the first time since the attack, she thanked those who sent her good wishes and reassured the public that she was left “relatively unscathed.”

She said: “Thanks to everyone who has sent their love and good wishes following last week’s stabbing.

“Just to reassure you that whilst it was very frightening at the time, I came out of it relatively unscathed and was even back home later that night.”

The actress said she is looking forward to returning to the filming of the television show next week, adding: “thankfully all the violence [in Silent Witness] is fake.”

Following the incident, Ms Carr and her PA, who has not been named, were both sent to hospital.

A friend told the Sun: “It was a terrifying experience for Liz.

Both screamed for help as the attacker approached them just after 8.20pm.

The friend added: “Typically, Liz is putting a brave face on it — joking that it was like being attacked by Edward Scissorhands.

Ms Carr has the rare genetic condition arthrogryposis multiplex congenital and has been in a wheelchair since the age of 7.

A Met Police spokeswoman said: “Police were called at 8.21pm on Thursday, August 10, to Euston Road, near to  Euston station, to reports of man attacking two women with scissors.

“Officers and LAS attended the location. The two women were taken to hospital suffering minor cuts and subsequently discharged.
