Organisers of this weekend’s South West Four festival have ramped up security following recent terror attacks in London and Manchester.

A huge swathe of Clapham Common in south London has been fenced off for the dance festival on Saturday and Sunday.

Revellers paying £60 a ticket are set to descend on the event to enjoy sets from some of the world’s most prominent DJs and dance acts including Pendulum, Eric Prydz, Deadmau5 and Duke Dumont.

Up to 30,000 people are expected to attend the hugely popular festival each day.

In light of terror attacks in London and Manchester in recent months, extra security measures are in place include metal detectors, while all large bags have been banned.

Revellers are set to descend on the event to see some of the world’s biggest DJs and dance acts ()

Only purses, clutch bags and standard sized bum bags measuring 4.5in/11.4cm x 6.5in/16.51cm or smaller will be allowed and will be searched.

A statement on the event’s website read: “To be clear, no one is going to be measuring these to the nearest inch. If you bring a bag that is noticeably bigger, it will not be permitted into the event.”

Sniffer dogs will be patrolling the queues and there will be searches at the front entrance.

Organisers said no liquids or gels apart from sun cream would be permitted into the event and that the contents would be tested on arrival.

Clapham Common will also host the House of Common festival on Bank Holiday Monday with Madness the headline act.

Transport for London has warned passengers that Clapham Common station will be closed from 9pm on each day and that Clapham South station is expected to be extremely busy.

It has advised passengers looking for a more comfortable journey to travel via Balham or Clapham North stations or avoid travelling via Clapham South after 10pm.

A Met Police spokeswoman said: “There is an appropriate and proportionate policing plan for the event.”
