Zimbabwe’s capital Harare has seen violent protests after the President Emmerson Mnangagwa – nicknamed The Crocodile – announced fuel prices would more than double.
The Zimbabwe government also blocked access to social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter and the messaging service WhatsApp.
The MDC (Movement for Democratic Change) says Mr Mnangagwa, a former Mugabe ally, is now overseeing a return to authoritarian rule by using the same tactics.
