Stuntman dies after fall on ‘The Walking Dead’ set: Report

A stuntman for TV show The Walking Dead has reportedly passed away from a serious head injury sustained in a fall on set.

According to multiple reports John Bernecker passed away on Thursday evening,  a day after being admitted to hospital Atlanta Medical Center. The Coweta County Coroner’s Office in Georgia has reportedly confirmed the news of the stuntman’s death to Entertainment Weekly.

The experienced stuntman sustained his head injury after he fell more than 20 feet onto a concrete floor at Raleigh Studios in Georgia. AMC made a statement and shut down production on Season 8 of the zombie drama shortly after the fall.

The coroner told the entertainment news outlet he was pronounced dead at the medical center on Wednesday after succumbing to injuries from blunt force trauma.

Bernecker was airlifted to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon where he was reportedly put on a ventilator in intensive care.

TMZ reports, the talented stuntman was surrounded by friends and family, including his stuntwoman girlfriend Jennifer Cocker, who also works on the AMC show, when the ventilator was turned off.
